Day 1: My PCOS Story & Why I’m Trying the FatBurn Fix

I’m Erika, a 33-year-old artist and PCOS sister who’s ready for a fresh start. I was diagnosed
with polycystic ovary syndrome back in 2011, so hormone ups and downs are nothing new to
me. In 2019, I tried the keto diet and actually lost weight, but when I fell off the wagon, the
pounds crept back on (ugh). Fast forward to now: my dad handed me The FatBurn Fix by Dr.
Cate Shanahan and said, “Maybe this could help.” After skimming it, I felt a spark of hope. Dr. Cate lays out a plan to “optimize your health by reclaiming your natural ability to burn body fat for fuel” (The Fatburn Fix - Dr. Cate) – exactly what I need!
Why am I doing this?
Sure, I want to lose weight, but mostly I want to feel better. PCOS has
made my cycles irregular and my energy unpredictable. My husband and I aren’t trying for a
baby just yet, but we want kids in the future, and I know getting healthier now will make things easier when the time comes.
Over the next 30 days, I’ll be following the FatBurn Fix principles and sharing honest daily updates – the good, the bad, and the awkward. If you’re a fellow PCOS fighter or just curious about using food to feel better, welcome! Let’s see what restoring my “fat-burning” metabolism can do for my hormones, waistline, and confidence. Writing this blog series keeps me accountable and reminds me I’m not alone. I’m so glad you’re here cheering me on. Let’s do this!
