Day 7: One Week In – Small Wins & Staying Motivated

I made it through Week 1, and I’m feeling proud of myself! This first week wasn’t without its challenges (more on that in a sec), but I’ve also noticed some small but meaningful wins.
Wins so far: I’m down 2 pounds on the scale, which is encouraging. It’s probably mostly water weight, but hey, I’ll take it! My jeans button a tiny bit easier – a sign that the bloat is going down. I also haven’t had an afternoon energy crash in the past couple of days, which feels miraculous. My sweet tooth isn’t gone, but those intense sugar cravings at 3 pm are noticeably weaker. And emotionally, I just feel...lighter. Knowing I stuck to my plan for a whole week gives me a confidence boost.
Challenges: The first few days, I had a mild headache (keto flu, anyone?) and felt a bit irritable as my body adjusted to fewer carbs. I also faced a Friday night social outing where everyone was having beer and fries. That was tough – I won’t lie, I felt tempted. But I sipped a sparkling water with lime and reminded myself why I started this. Once I got past that, I felt pretty victorious.
What’s keeping me going is remembering my “why.” Whenever I felt like caving, I thought about my future baby and how I want to be my healthiest self for pregnancy. I also leaned on my support system – my husband cheered me on and my dad (the one who gave me the book) checked in to see how I’m doing. That accountability helps so much.
All in all, Week 1 taught me that I can do this. I’m entering Week 2 with new motivation, excited to see more progress (and to share it with you!).
