Day 13: Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate – Water Is Essential

One of the simplest yet most important pieces of advice in The FatBurn Fix plan is: drink plenty of water (The Fatburn Fix - Dr. Cate). It sounds so basic, but staying hydrated has a huge impact on how I feel. I’ll admit, before this, I often overlooked water. I’d go hours with just coffee or tea, and then wonder why I felt tired or got headaches.
Now, I make a conscious effort to hydrate throughout the day. I keep a large water bottle at my desk while I work and aim to refill it several times. Proper hydration helps everything in our bodies run smoother – from digestion to metabolism. For those of us with PCOS, water can also help with bloating and improving circulation (which is great for our skin and overall hormone transport). Plus, sometimes what feels like hunger or cravings is actually your body asking for fluids, not food. I’ve started doing the “drink water first” test: if I feel a sudden craving or energy dip, I drink a glass of water. Many times, that’s all I needed and I feel fine afterward.
On this lower-carb, higher-protein/fat diet, water is even more crucial. Our bodies flush out more sodium and water when insulin levels drop, so replenishing is key to avoiding those “keto flu” symptoms. I also add a pinch of mineral salt to my water or have electrolyte tablets if I’ve been sweating a lot, just to keep my balance.
The difference is noticeable: I have fewer headaches now and my energy is more consistent. Even my skin looks clearer and more hydrated. It’s such a simple habit, but it’s one that truly supports every aspect of this health journey. So here’s your friendly reminder: hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – your body will thank you!
